Prayer and Reflection
At St Martin’s CE Primary School prayer forms part of our daily act of collective worship. We understand that prayer is essential for spiritual development. The following school prayer has been written by the children themselves.
St Martin’s school prayer
At St Martin’s we understand that when we teach our children to pray, we introduce them to Jesus and plant the seeds for them to grow their personal relationship with God. We were given prayer as a way to communicate with Our Lord directly. Teaching children to pray teaches children that God is always accessible and always there for them. It is a personal process of opening our hearts to our Heavenly Father and bringing everything in our hearts to Him.
Both adults and children lead prayer at our school. We also recognise that prayer does not have to be spoken and we often use silence to reflect upon our thoughts and feelings.
All classes have a prayer area within their classrooms, which is a space for quiet reflection. Children are encouraged to write their own prayers for displaying on the prayer wall or to share during worship.
