Welcome to St. Martin's
Message from the Headteacher
Welcome to St Martin’s CE Primary School. It is my pleasure to welcome you to our school. Our school, serving the West Drayton community, is proud to be a Church of England school rooted in the teachings of Jesus and inspired by Martin of Tours. Our school vision — “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16) — guides everything we do. We are committed to nurturing courageous, compassionate children who flourish academically, spiritually and socially.
St Martin’s is a warm, inclusive Christian community where we celebrate the dignity and worth of every child. Our Christian values of compassion, trust, prayer and generosity are lived out daily across classrooms, worship and community life. We welcome families of all backgrounds and beliefs and are committed to inclusive practice so every child can shine. As a primary school moving to one form entry and part of LDBS Frays Academy Trust, we also run a special resource provision for 12 children (The Lighthouse). Located in West Drayton, we know our community well and because of this we are determined to provide high-quality, compassionate education for every family we serve.
We are proud of the outcomes of our recent inspections which reflect our commitment to high standards and to caring for the whole child. Our SIAMS inspection noted that “the school’s Christian character enables pupils to flourish; leaders and governors are committed to ensuring that the distinctiveness and effectiveness of the Church school are sustained.” Ofsted commented that “pupils are supported well and make positive progress. Leaders know the community well and provide a strong, caring ethos for pupils and families.” These findings align with our ongoing priorities: safeguarding, inclusive provision, curriculum quality, and strong leadership and governance, and we use our understanding the needs of our chidren and community to shape our continuous improvement.
At St Martin’s you can expect a rich curriculum that is carefully sequenced and adapted to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and those supported through our special resource provision. We combine high expectations for academic progress with strong pastoral care rooted in Christian values: worship, reflection and opportunities to serve the local community. We set clear expectations for behaviour, attendance and personal development so every child can thrive academically and morally. Families can expect dedicated staff, clear communication and close partnerships to help children realise their God-given potential.
Daily life at St Martin’s includes collective worship and reflection where children explore values such as generosity and courage and put them into practice. Children enjoy outdoor learning activities that build resilience, teamwork and curiosity. We provide tailored interventions and specialist support for children with additional needs, working closely with parents and external agencies. We celebrate pupil achievement in lessons, assemblies and community events, showcasing good deeds and positive impact.
We are committed to governance, transparency and strong community partnership. As part of our responsibilities we publish up-to-date governance information and ensure transparency about leadership arrangements and how we use resources to benefit pupils. Our governing body and the trust work closely with leaders to ensure accountability and continual improvement.
Practical information: our admissions arrangements and details of how we manage in-year applications are available on our website and through the trust; please contact the school office for current application guidance. We warmly welcome prospective parents and carers to visit, see our school in action and meet staff and pupils. Follow our news and events to see how our vision and values are lived out — from sports days and performances to community outreach.
At St Martin’s we believe every child is a beacon of potential. Our Christian ethos and commitment to inclusion ensure that children are known, valued and supported to succeed. We look forward to partnering with you as we help your child flourish academically, spiritually and personally. Contact the school office to arrange a visit or to request further information about admissions and our provision.
